Western Magpies Reserve’s Captain and
inspirational leader Brett “Noodles” McEvoy has won the prestigious Noel Wallis  Medal for the best and fairest player in the AFL QLD Premier League Reserves for  2011. That’s if you consider winning sharing the medal with two other guys? The umpires could not split Brendan Wolf (Noosa), Clayton Barnes (Springwood) and  McEvoy who shared in the competitions top gong.
The classy left foot midfielder said his  success was a product of his first to arrive last to leave training philosophy  which gave him the fitness base to run the season out.
McEvoy’s win had some contrast to prolific  Collingwood midfielder Dayne Swan’s Brownlow Medal win, if at least the complete  opposite. Swan battling a niggling injury and a drop in form was sent to Arizona  by Collingwood. Swan stormed home in the medal count to win outright with a
record tally of votes. McEvoy, on the other hand was flying in the first half of
the medal count before a trip to the states Central West and a guest appearance  for his former club Mooranbah. His 100 plus possession game seemed to have a  negative impact on his return to Brisbane and did not poll a vote for the
remainder of the season hanging on to share the medal.
Other outstanding performances for the  Magpies on the night were Adam Gillespie who won the goal kicking for the AFLQ  Premier League Reserves kicking 87 goals for the season.

Down and dirty, no frills midfielder Reid
Dobson continued his demonstrated ability in recent years to catch the eye of
the men in orange. In the last two years Dobbo has won (2010) and been runner up
(2009) in the QAFL Reserves Best and Fairest Bill Clerke Medal. In 2011 he added
the Runner Up in the Duncanson/Todd Medal to this impressive run of form
finishing equal second behind winner Lucas Matthews (Noosa) with Caleb Isles
(Noosa).

Clearly the umpires have been mistakenly
taking Dobbo’s on field advice constructively.

Congratulations on a great season boys!!!
